Psychotherapy sessions last for 50 minutes and are regular weekly appointments. For some people as little as 4 sessions can be enough to give them the insight and confidence they need to go with their lives. Other people need much longer to tell their story and feel understood. If you have been affected by your difficulties and felt different or alone for some time, long term psychotherapy may be needed before you feel comfortable and at home in the world. What do I need to do? All you need to do is make a commitment to yourself that you are going to address what's not working in your life. You need to attend your sessions regularly, even if you are just coming for short-term therapy.Don't worry about not knowing what to say in the sessions. It's okay to simply state that you don't know what to say, or to just sit in silence for a while. the sessions are for you. It's your time and space. There's no right or wrong thing to say. Your psychotherapist is experienced in working with clients from differing backgrounds and with wide-ranging life histories. She is not going to be shocked or judgemental about what is happening in your life and how you are coping. It's natural to have concerns about therapy, and your therapist is not going to be surprised or upset if you mention these in your sessions. In fact, you are likely to find it very valuable to be able to openly discuss your fears in a safe environment.Where are the therapy sessions held? The office is a comfortable room in Harley Street W1, just behind Oxford Circus in central London. There are other London locations where you could be seen if this is more convenient, such as Knightsbridge and Angel Islington. When we arrange a first session we can discuss which location is easist for you. How much does it cost?The fee based on a sliding scale, starting at £90 for one 50 minute session. It is usual to pay at the end of each session, although some people like to pay a month in advance. If you miss a session without giving 48 hours notice, it is expected that you will pay for the session in full. If you believe that you cannot afford this psychotherapy but are still interested in counselling, please mention this when making your enquiry. Who is this therapy for?Harley Street psychotherapy is an exclusive service for individuals who require private and confidential support. Clients details are never revealed, so no one will know you are attending therapy unless you choose to tell them. What you say in your counselling sessions is always confidential. Confidentiality may only be broken if it is felt that you or someone you mention is at great risk. In such circumstances, this would be discussed with you first whenever possible.
